A long day in Irvington!

Sometimes we do nutty things like accept two gigs for a single date. And then months later, when that date rolls around, we look at each other and say: "This is insane. What were we thinking?"

So Saturday, Sept. 4 was one of those 2-gig days. We left Richmond early in the morning, and started playing for the farmers market crowd before 9:30 am. It was perfect weather and the crowd was great and we had a blast! We even got to chat with our friend Dhoc, who took this picture of us with cute kids hanging around the stage:

After breaking down our equipment, and then having lunch at a place in Kilmarnock that was none too speedy, we had time for only the briefest of naps at our hotel before heading to The Tides Inn to set up for gig number two. We were playing poolside, so that was... different. Doug Austin sat in with us on the mandolin. Love those mando licks!

The next day, John and I thought we were going to go paddling, but instead we had a late brunch at Ditchly Cider Works (cider mimosas are a fantastic thing!), and then went swimming at a lovely private beach before heading home.
